Usually I stay away from explanations for pieces I've done and leave it up for individual interpretation.
But I guess a small symbolism list wouldn't hurt.
tiger - Protector of the dead.
elephant - Ability to deal with any obstacle.
goldfinch - Victory over death.
blackbird - Sin.
lighting - God's vengeance.
scales - Unbalance.
wreath of bay leaves - Death.
black - Sorrow.
red - Love.
grey - Repentance.
